Mole Screening & Benign Lesion Removal

At The Pharmacy Bebington

In partnership with Map My Mole

From reassurance to resolution — expert skin care, delivered locally.

Skin concerns often begin with uncertainty: Is this normal? Has it changed? Should I be worried? At The Pharmacy Bebington, we provide a complete skin health pathway — from consultant-led mole screening through to in-pharmacy removal of confirmed benign lesions using CryoPen cryotherapy, where clinically appropriate.

This joined-up approach removes delays, reduces anxiety, and ensures every step is guided by clinical best practice.

Mole Screening with Map My Mole

Our mole screening service is delivered in partnership with Map My Mole, a trusted UK-based service providing remote assessment by consultant dermatologists. This service focuses on the early identification of moles or lesions that may show features associated with skin cancer, including melanoma — enabling reassurance or timely onward referral where needed.

Why Mole Screening Matters

A significant proportion of GP dermatology appointments relate to moles and skin lesions, often resulting in referral delays of several weeks. Community pharmacy offers a safe, accessible alternative — without adding strain to NHS services.

With mole screening at The Pharmacy Bebington, you benefit from:

  • Prompt access in a private, local setting.
  • Consultant-reviewed results within 24–48 hours.
  • Clear guidance on next steps, where required.

What to Expect: Mole Screening Appointment

Appointments are discreet and typically completed within 10 minutes (typically 10–15 minutes total).

Clinical Assessment

A trained healthcare professional will visually assess the mole or lesion using recognised ABCDE criteria:
  • Asymmetry
  • Border irregularity
  • Colour variation
  • Diameter
  • Evolving size, shape, or colour

Risk Review

Relevant factors are discussed, including skin type, sun exposure, and personal or family history of skin cancer.

Dermatoscopic Imaging

A professional dermatoscope with polarised light is used to examine the lesion in detail.

Secure Digital Submission

High-resolution images are securely uploaded to Map My Mole for consultant dermatologist review.

Consultant Report

A clear, easy-to-understand report is returned within 24–72 hours. Most reports return within 48 hours, but the stated SLA is up to 72 hours depending on dermatology workload.

Benign Lesion Removal with CryoPen Cryotherapy

Where a lesion has been confirmed as benign, The Pharmacy Bebington also offers CryoPen cryotherapy — a precise, non-invasive treatment for the removal of common benign skin lesions.

What Is CryoPen?

CryoPen is a CE-marked medical device that uses high-pressure nitrous oxide to freeze and destroy unwanted tissue with pinpoint accuracy. This allows treatment of the lesion while minimising impact on surrounding healthy skin.

CryoPen may be suitable for:

  • Skin tags
  • Warts
  • Verrucae
  • Cherry angiomas
  • Other benign lesions (subject to assessment)

Treatment is quick, requires no anaesthetic, and typically involves minimal discomfort and downtime.

Important Clinical Guidance

  • Cryotherapy is only suitable for benign lesions.
  • Pigmented, changing, or suspicious lesions must be assessed first, either via Map My Mole screening, GP review, or dermatology referral.
  • Lesion removal is offered only when clinically appropriate.

This ensures patient safety remains the priority at all times.

Our Pricing for These Services are as Follows

Map My Mole:

£50 for one lesion and £25 for each additional lesion.

Cryopen Mole/Lesion Removal Service:
